What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
In 1993, Habitat for Humanity of Albany County, WY, Inc. was established in affiliation with Habitat for Humanity International. This locally run nonprofit organization works in partnership with qualifying families and numerous community volunteers and businesses to build simple, decent, and affordable housing. The houses are then sold to these families at no profit and with no interest charged.
Habitat for Humanity is a community organization that strives to involve volunteers, families and businesses in common projects that improve the lives of the recipients and enrich the community spiritually and materially.
